About the Artist

Emma Szilágyi was born in the UK and has spent most of her life in Scotland. Her father is from Hungary and her mother is from Finland. She trained at Glasgow School of Art (1993) and Leith School of Art(1997), graduated from the Royal Academy Schools in London (2001) and since 2002 has been working in Scotland.

Recent Activities

In 2004 she received a Millennium Award for a Project on work in the Community and development of her own painting. Her paintings reflecting her work on this Project were exhibited in the Gallery of the Royal Incorporation of Architects, Scotland in Edinburgh. (See Gallery One)

Recently she worked in the Outreach Programme with the National Galleries of Scotland. Currently she is on the Staff of Leith College of Art and is also a Tutor with the Open College of Arts. She has been appointed Artist in Residence at Loretto School, Musselburgh during March, 2006.
